Who we are: Principals and Scientific Advisory Board
Steve Shepley (Principal) is responsible for the design and layout of the PreSenSys reports, oversees the IT Department, and works with Alex Siegel on the content of PreSenSys custom reports. His background reflects this mixture of computer technology and industrial psychology. He has been associated with a leading US publisher of personality surveys in various capacities over a period of twenty years, in the US, the UK, and Australia, and was also an early developer of Web-based systems for products as diverse as plotting services and psychological surveys. He combines comprehensive knowledge of personality and interest surveys, and expertise in developing and distributing these products over the Web, in his work at PreSenSys. He has a B.A. from London University and an M.A. from Oxford.
Alexander W. Siegel, Ph.D. (Principal) received his B.A. in Psychology from Amherst College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota. He is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Houston, where he was most recently Professor of Psychology and Director of Graduate Training in Developmental Psychology. From 1967-1979 he served on the Faculty of the University of Pittsburgh. At Houston, he served as Chair of the Department of Psychology from 1983-1987, and has been Adjunct Professor of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine since 1983. He was, for two years, Visiting Professor in the Department of Psychology and Social Relations at Harvard University. His major research interests include Adolescent Development, Adolescent Risk-Taking, and the History of Psychology & Developmental Psychology. His past memberships in professional associations included the American Psychological Association (1965-1989; Fellow of Divisions 3 & 7), a Charter Fellow of the American Psychological Society (1988-2000), the Association for the Advancement of Applied and Preventive Psychology (1992-1999), and the Society for Research in Child Development (1964-2002). He has been a Consulting Editor for Child Development, Developmental Psychology, and Journal of Experimental Child Psychology. He served on the Human Development & Aging (I) of NICHHD from 1981-1987. He has directed or participated in numerous funded research programs including the development of spatial representations, depression in children, and risk-taking in adolescents.
